Early risers can make breakfast or work in the kitchen without waking anyone.<\/p>\n

Touches of the original farmhouse remain\u2014a blue-green antique wardrobe, exposed stone walls\u2014grounding the space in its history. Yet it harmonises beautifully with modern luxury: pampas grass, wicker lamps, sleek black kitchens with hidden appliances, and a freestanding bathtub paired with Rituals bath soak for long, indulgent evenings.<\/p>\n

Each evening, a Spanish-style continental breakfast is delivered ready for the next morning\u2014charming in its simplicity, delightful in its variety. Every morning brought a new surprise: an adorable Kilner jar of Nutella (immediately claimed by my daughter), yoghurt and granola pots, assorted fruit. The daily reveal became one of her favourite rituals of the trip.<\/p>\n
The beauty of this breakfast setup is that it allows guests to carve out their own pace for the day. No rushing to beat closing times, no need to dress or hurry\u2014just a gentle start in the privacy of your own space. Already twinkling with Christmas decorations during our stay, the space held the warm, bustling energy of a countryside pub in winter\u2014cosy but full of life. Locals, expats, and visitors made the effort to drive out especially for dinner, filling the room with an energy that felt both unexpected and refreshing. Much of this international mix stems from Sam and Hein’s two decades of dedication; their Dutch roots naturally draw guests from nearby European communities. It’s not unusual to hear Scandinavian, Dutch, German, and British voices at neighbouring tables\u2014even midweek, even in November. The remoteness becomes irrelevant when a place is this loved.<\/p>\n
The highlight of our stay? The Bella Luna party night.<\/p>\n
Hosted twice a month, these evenings are an event woven from good food, music, and community spirit. A three-course dinner, live music, dancing, singing\u2014an atmosphere so electric it practically vibrates.
