The Glendronach Distillery today unveils The Master’s Anthology, a new collection of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky that captures the breadth and depth of sherry cask maturation. Curated by acclaimed Master Blender Rachel Barrie, this anthology celebrates almost 200 years of expertise in crafting rich and complex single malts.<\/p>\n

The new collection comprises three non-age-statement single malts, with each expression composed to celebrate a different aspect of the rich and rewarding Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky; Ode to The Valley, Ode to The Embers and Ode to The Dark.<\/p>\n

The Master’s Anthology begins with Ode to The Valley, a fruit-forward expression of floral nectar and summer berry notes matured in port and sherry casks. A rare peated expression, Ode to The Embers blends smoky peat with spiced richness from Oloroso and Pedro Xim\u00e9nez casks. The richest expression, Ode to The Dark, offers notes of layered chocolate, black cherry, and dates, matured in Pedro Xim\u00e9nez casks.<\/p>\n

\nDrawing upon three decades of skill and dedication, the releases explore the aromatic depth and character of The Glendronach’s signature sherry cask whisky, culminating in some of the richest, darkest expressions ever crafted from the historic Boynsmill House.<\/p>\n

Rachel Barrie, The Glendronach Master Blender said:<\/em><\/p>\n

“The Master’s Anthology is a tribute to the art of sherry cask maturation, reflecting the exceptional taste and deep character that has become synonymous with The Glendronach over almost 200 years. This collection is a journey into the heart of our distillery, where time-honoured traditions and natural influences shape every drop of our whisky.<\/p>\n

“Each bottling is a new composition where we amplify notes but we keep the rich harmony, that is our tradition, at the heart of the liquid. Ode to the Valley sings of an abundance of ripe fruit, it is the landscape of The Glendronach Distillery in full glory, while Ode to the Embers cloaks warm and rich spice in smouldering wisps of smoke, speaking of the days of old in the Valley of Forgue. Ode to the Dark enrobes velvet chocolate over dark plum and black cherry, caramelised dates and coffee, to bask The Glendronach in rich splendour. This anthology embodies the essence of The Glendronach and tells a story of our history, our heart and our dedication.”<\/p>\n

The Master’s Anthology collection will launch in the UK and German markets in December 2024, with wider availability expected in early 2025.<\/p>\n

The Glendronach marked a significant milestone earlier this year with a visual restaging; unveiling updated packaging and an innovative creative campaign in collaboration with Scottish-born photographer and director Rankin.<\/p>\n

Ode to The Valley<\/h2>\n

The Master’s Anthology begins its journey at the Valley of Forgue. In a bountiful twist of bramble vines, on the edge of the Scottish Highlands, sits The Glendronach Distillery. Here, the land gives its plentiful riches and inspired by a combination of ruby port casks from the Douro valley in Portugal, and signature sherry casks, this expression presents sweet notes of floral nectar to dance in harmony with succulent ripe summer berries.<\/p>\n

Colour:<\/strong> Burnished copper
\nNose:<\/strong> Late summer berries and chocolate de leche imbued with sweet demerara and apricot glaze
\nTaste:<\/strong> Sip blackberry and roasted apple crumble with freshly baked gingerbread and sweet damson plum<\/p>\n

SRP \u00a367.00. This expression is bottled at 46.2% and with only natural cask-imparted colour<\/p>\n

Ode to The Embers<\/h2>\n

Ode to the Embers is a rare peated expression within The Master’s Anthology, in celebration of the ways of old when malt kilns cloaked barley grain in a warm smoke and the scent of smouldering peat whispered through the valley. A richly aromatic expression of The Glendronach, presenting intertwined notes of peat smoke, with a dominance of Oloroso sherry casks for spiced complexity, enriched with our signature Pedro Xim\u00e9nez casks.<\/p>\n

Colour:<\/strong> Smouldering amber
\nNose:<\/strong> Cinnamon spiced toffee, apple and caramelised walnut brittle intertwine with flamed orange on a smouldering open fire
\nTaste:<\/strong> Raisin and honeyed walnut meld with bramble ganache and smoked chocolate fudge<\/p>\n

SRP \u00a372.00. This expression is bottled at 48.4% and with only natural cask-imparted colour.<\/p>\n

Ode to The Dark<\/h2>\n

Ode to the Dark is the final, and richest expression, a crescendo ending within The Master’s Anthology. As evening folds slowly into night, darkness announces the coming of richer rewards. Matured in exceptional Pedro Xim\u00e9nez sherry casks, and bottled at high strength, this expression elevates richness with layers of flavour. Colour: Black garnet.<\/p>\n

Nose:<\/strong> A symphony of mocha, black cherry and dark chocolate precede cr\u00e9me br\u00fbl\u00e9e with raisin, brown sugar and ginger
\nTaste:<\/strong> Velvet layers of smooth espresso and cr\u00e8me caramel fold into black grape and mint chocolate ganache<\/p>\n
