Beyond the shine, Cheetah Plains weaves a meaningful element of the journey into, supporting the Lezagwa Utah Community Crèche, reinforcing a commitment to local community upliftment by contributing a portion of the diamond sales.

“The Diamond Experience is truly and utterly bespoke,” explains Michelle Monk, Marketing & PR Manager of Cheetah Plains. “Each session is carefully shaped around the guest, their style, and what they’re naturally drawn to, which makes it feel incredibly special from the outset. You’re working with rare, one-of-a-kind stones alongside a true expert, so it becomes less about choosing a piece and more about creating something meaningful in a setting that is intimate, luxurious, and entirely private.”

The evolving collection captures the spirit of the wild, refined, delicate and striking and meticulously crafted exclusively for Cheetah Plains to echo the unforgettable contrasts of life on safari.

Every stone is individually cut, calibrated, and set by hand to ensure exceptional sparkle and craftsmanship.

Designed as an eco-conscious sanctuary, the property features three private villas, each offering expansive bush suites, open-plan living and dining spaces, private pools, and off-grid sustainability. It’s considered and beautifully done, but still very personal – much like the stay itself, it’s something that feels quite rare and genuinely memorable.”

Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, Cheetah Plains operates a zero-emission game-viewing fleet of solar-charged electric Land Cruisers, redefining luxury safari travel through innovation and environmental responsibility. Here, luxury is not only experienced—it is reimagined, offering a stay that is at once deeply personal, effortlessly refined, and entirely beyond expectation.

Luxuria Lifestyle reviews Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Kenya https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/luxuria-lifestyle-reviews-fairmont-mara-safari-club-kenya/ Mon, 20 Apr 2026 10:27:56 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110531 More than a mere safari – this is a refined rendezvous with the untamed African savannah.

Forget the dusty, rugged safari of old. At the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, luxury is refined, intimate, and profoundly connected to the landscape.

After miles of dust and bumpy roads, it felt like I had stumbled upon a hidden heritage retreat. One minute, I am in the wild and the next, I am standing on polished wood, surrounded by canvas and five-star comforts. My bags were barely on the floor when the sound of the river called me to sit and stay a while.

Carrying forward an era of intimate, exclusive invitations, the Fairmont Mara Safari Club is a cornerstone of Kenyan safari heritage. It is purposefully called a Club, not a lodge as a nod to its heritage as an offshoot of the storied Mount Kenya Safari Club, preserving the tradition of discreet, intimate experiences. The site carries a storied past; originally an old hunting camp, it was transformed into a pioneer for photographic safari retreats following the hunting ban in Kenya in 1977, evolving into the intimate, exclusive sanctuary it is today. Here, the golden age of exploration has not just been preserved; it has been perfected.

A Sanctuary Under Canvas

Leaving the clubhouse, I followed a winding path into a private, emerald world. Under the canopy of gnarled giant figs and ancient yellow-fever acacias, the air cooled instantly. Pale bark glowed against deep green Euclea trees, while the chatter of monkeys and the hidden songs of birds echoed through the soft rustle of leaves.

Nestled within this oasis, I found my hideaway. Unzipping the canvas, any lingering idea of ‘roughing it’ instantly evaporated. Inside, my tent was a masterful blend of classic safari elegance and authentic Maasai artistry. I loved the accents of vibrant Maasai red and the intricate beadwork that brought the space to life against the cool, dark wood of the four-poster bed with gossamer netting, handwoven rugs, and antique-style furniture. Yet, nothing matched the thrill of the outdoor shower; washing under the vast African sky, with the rhythmic rush of the river as my soundtrack.

The tented camp is a study in delightful British understatement; a place where the rustle of canvas walls reminds you of the wild, while the interior carries the soul of a luxurious estate. My favourite ritual was returning each evening to find hot water bottles tucked deep into the linens. Wrapped in vibrant Maasai fabric, they felt like a warm embrace against the crisp night air, adding that final, thoughtful layer of comfort.

The true luxury, however, lies in the acoustics. To unzip my door at dawn was to invite the Mara inside. Each of the 38 tents is suspended over the river’s edge, featuring a private wooden deck where I could sit wrapped in a plush robe, feeling the damp chill of the morning mist rise off the water to meet the warmth of my coffee. There is a profound, meditative quality to this canvas living; the soft, rhythmic sound of wind against the fabric and the chortle of the hippo pod created a cocoon of stillness. It is a rare kind of silence that feels increasingly precious in the modern world.

At the Fairmont, the ‘do not disturb’ sign is not for the staff – it’s for the curious monkey eyeing your morning coffee from the deck.

An Unhurried Rhythm: The Soul of the Mara

There is a specific kind of magic at Fairmont Mara Safari Club, where the raw spirit of the wild is met with a refined ease that feels deeply personal. Throughout my visit, I was struck by the intuitive hospitality of the team; they made the service feel entirely natural, ensuring my bespoke itinerary unfolded with the fluid grace of the Mara River itself. The day’s transitions, from the sunrise game drives to the dappled stillness of a bush breakfast, to an intimate garden lunch experience, were so seamless they felt like an unhurried rhythm. Then, as evening fell, the ritual of the sundowner became a moment of quiet magnetism, where chilled drinks and artful bites were served just as the sun set to the distant, guttural roar of a lion.

The Conservation Heartbeat: A Silent Encounter

A game drive is where every safari begins; it is the heartbeat of the adventure. While the safari is the entire journey, the game drive is that immersive moment of witnessing the wild from the comfort of a 4×4 open-sided vehicle. Led by an expert ranger, I was taken close enough to feel the presence of the animals without disturbing their ancient rhythms. The true luxury I discovered was the feeling of being a guest in a world that belongs entirely to the animals. Whether I was watching a family of elephants drift across the plains or waking to the mist rolling off the Mara River, the experience offered a profound stillness that the frenetic pace of my city life could never replicate.

While most experience the Mara through the safe, glass-framed window of a Land Cruiser, I was headed for something far more immersive. Stepping out of the vehicle and into the community-owned Ol Choro Conservancy, Rhino Sanctuary, the luxury of the club fell away, replaced by the profound privilege of a quiet walk. Here, I was not just observing; I was walking alongside dedicated rangers to meet the only two southern white rhinos in the Mara. Standing just metres away from these ancient giants, I felt the true weight of what it means to preserve the wild. It was a once-in-a-lifetime encounter that moved me beyond words – a moment where the refinement of my stay met the raw responsibility of a legacy.

This was not just an experience but a privilege. Rare, deeply personal and profoundly moving.

A Sanctuary of Stillness: Wellness and Quiet Discovery

The morning’s wild rush gave way to the afternoon’s invitation. Tucked away in a quaint wooden hut on the riverbank, I enjoyed wide windows overlooking the river; here, the cool breeze and my massage treatment were a moment of pure sensory immersion for me – grounding, restorative, and pure.

Beyond the spa, I found a different kind of rhythm in the guided nature and bird walks along the river’s edge, or during a fascinating visit to the bee apiary to learn about the Mara’s smallest, most vital workers. Even the stroll to the herb garden feels like a meditation, where the scent of earth and growing things replaces the dust of the plains.

The Heart of the Club: Architectural Sophistication

At the centre of the camp lies the main Clubhouse, a striking architectural anchor that seamlessly bridges the gap between traditional safari heritage and contemporary luxury. Far from a standard lobby, the space is a masterclass in open-plan design, where massive mahogany beams soar toward a vaulted ceiling. Walls of expansive glass ensure that even while indoors, you are never truly separated from the river and magnificent trees outside.

There is a cathedral-like scale here that mirrors the vastness of the plains. Within the Kirafu dining room, beautiful, exposed beams and light from expansive glass walls maintain a decidedly contemporary atmosphere. The lodge’s defining feature is undoubtedly the sweeping wooden deck, cantilevered directly over the oxbow of the Mara River. It is here that the modern and the wild truly collide, with the Kiboko Bar serving as the lodge’s vibrant focal point. This social hub draws you from the stately stone fireplace toward the edge of the river, where a cocktail in hand and the sounds of the bush create the ultimate Mara evening.

Safari Flavours: Bush Breakfasts to Boma Dinners

The safari day is bookended by two iconic, open-air rituals.

Bush breakfasts appear after dawn drives, with fresh pastries and Kenyan coffee mingling with the scent of fragrant wild grass, creating a high-society picnic in nature’s theatre.

Sundowners are a rite of passage for the seasoned traveller. As the sun begins its descent, changing from amber to violet, a pop-up bar appears on a scenic ridge.

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club treats the entire landscape as its dining room. For me, every meal was as evocative as the wild itself, especially at the riverfront, where I enjoyed dishes seasoned with fresh herbs from the garden and local flavours that were refined with culinary finesse.

My afternoon in the shamba was a total immersion. In the garden, I joined the Executive Chef to gather sun-warmed greens for a private riverside lunch for two. Under the shade of ancient trees, a young chef transformed our harvest into a vibrant stir-fry right before us. With the scent of earthy grass and the rush of the river around me, every bite felt rooted in the very soil of the Mara.

The Pulse of the Mara – Carried Home

Stewardship is the soul of the camp, where sound, sustainable efforts safeguard vital habitats and endangered species: most notably the Mara’s rhinos under vigilant, 24-hour care. Here, the wild is protected because visitors choose to travel in a way that ensures its survival. Every stay, drive, and walk fuels a living conservation economy where nature and people thrive side by side.

Knowing that my presence here supports this delicate balance makes the moment of departure feel less like an ending and more like a shared promise. The zipper pulls shut on the canvas one last time, and I realise the wild and the refined have become one. The distinction between my four-poster sanctuary and the wild stretch of the Mara River has simply evaporated. I did not come here to be insulated from the wild; I came to find where the two meet.

As the morning mist lifts and a hippo’s chortle echoes through the trees, I understand that the greatest luxury is not what has been built, but what has been preserved. I leave the Fairmont Mara Safari Club with more than just sightings—I leave with the pulse of the African bush firmly beating within me.

Bruce Jack Wines Scoops Major Global Industry Honour For Sixth Time https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/bruce-jack-wines-scoops-major-global-industry-honour-for-sixth-time/ Thu, 16 Apr 2026 12:27:18 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110381 In a tribute to its global footprint and widespread acclaim, Bruce Jack Wines has been recognised as one of the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands of 2026. This accolade from Drinks International has been described as the Oscars of the wine industry.

South African-focused Bruce Jack Wines produces wine across four continents, including Africa, Europe, North and South America, and is available in 23 countries.

“Being included on the list of the Top 50 Most Admired Wine Brands for the sixth time is a wonderful recognition of our incredible team and our strategic partnerships. It also shows we are not a fad business that bursts onto the scene only to fade away, ” said the eponymous Bruce Jack. “And while we are a long way from being a ‘planet’ brand, one of those anchor bodies around which the industry orientates itself, we are shining strongly, standing firm in the beautiful chaos and mayhem that is the global wine market.”

The business grew by 30% during 2025, driven by new listings across the African continent with far-flung markets like Brazil and Japan enthusiastically discovering what our traditional markets in the UK, Canada and Europe already knew.

“As a country, South Africa has struggled to be recognised on global lists like these, despite over achieving in international blind tasting competitions, ” Jack said. “But this is changing thanks to a growing recognition that South Africa makes consistently brilliant wine at every price point. Our industry is a healthy mix of established, heritage brands and a constant bustle of new kids on the block. We are steeped in authenticity and sparkle with African resilience. The South African wine industry is more vibrant and more relevant than ever.”

“Many of the international wine businesses on this list are renowned industry leaders with extensive experience, large teams and stellar heritage. The vast majority have been around for decades, and some for over a century.”

“It is lekker to have made the cut once again, especially as a family-owned business with a very small team,” said Jack. “Being family-owned, we contribute to the social fabric of our communities, supporting environmental organisations, establishing resilience in civic structures, and driving young student education (especially in music). While we take our winemaking very seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. This allows us to push the boundaries. And at the end of the day, we value the end consumer as the most important person in the chain.

“I think the hundreds of judges who vote for the brands that appear on the “Most Admired” list are not only interested in the big guns with huge marketing budgets – they also value the new leaders with trailblazing brands and an inspiring vision.

The consistent performance on this list reflects over 30 years of Bruce’s total immersion in the industry, from vineyard establishment and viticulture to winemaking and marketing.

In the UK, wine lovers can sip on the Bruce Jack Lifestyle range, created for different occasions and with unique character across the UK, available at ASDA, Co-op and Sainsbury’s. The Bruce Jack Reserve, Heritage and Estate ranges are available from Hallgarten & Novum Wines and the boundary-pushing, multiple award-winning Ghost in the Machine range is available for the on-trade from Majestic Commercial.

Hyde Johannesburg: Boho Meets Skyline https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/hyde-johannesburg-boho-meets-skyline/ Sat, 11 Apr 2026 13:05:05 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110335 Hyde arrived on the global hospitality scene in 2005 via the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, and it’s carried its free-spirited DNA to Miami, Dubai, Ibiza, London, and now, Johannesburg. Hyde’s first African property brings its signature blend of urban sophistication and bohemian earthiness to South Africa’s coolest, most creative neighbourhood.

Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank is housed within The Bank – a landmark building on Rosebank’s skyline – and from the moment you arrive, it’s clear this space is genuinely shaped by South African creative culture. Local artists and artisans define the aesthetic throughout; pieces feel collected over time, with meaning, humour, history and joy.

There’s ceramic work, beadwork, bold contemporary canvases – and enough sculptural detail to keep you looking longer than you planned.

The 131 rooms range from intimate king rooms to the 52-square-metre Headliner Suite, all designed around unhurried comfort. Blackout curtains, gorgeous linens, fast Wi-Fi, stocked mini-bars, in-room steamers – everything you need, nothing you don’t. The gym runs 24 hours a day, and offers three different fitness studios, including a strength studio, cardio studio and peaceful focus studio, where you can unwind with a calming yoga session while watching a stunning South African sunset.

Importantly, Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank holds Green Key certification, an internationally recognised eco-label verified across 90+ countries through independent audits and annual checks. Solar panels, a borehole supplying around 40% of the hotel’s water needs, heat recovery systems and LED lighting are all part of how the property operates. Sustainability here isn’t a badge; it’s a mindset. Built into how the building runs and how the team shows up every single day.

At ground level, Proud Mary sets the tone for eating and drinking at Hyde. With numerous awards to its name, including “Hotel Restaurant of the Year” in South Africa’s 2025 Luxe Awards, this is Rosebank’s go-to spot for boutique wines, small plates and heartier grills – all served in a mid-century modern setting that manages to feel both buzzy and relaxed. Proud CoWee fuels the mornings – serious about its brews, generous with its pastries.

Then there’s Nine Lives. Tucked between the fourth and fifth floors, Johannesburg’s first hidden inter-floor speakeasy delivers unforgettable Asian flavours, Seventies-inspired design and a stock of rare international spirits you won’t find anywhere else. Hyde’s beautiful indoor-outdoor flow is deliberate, the connection to the neighbourhood, genuine. The Rosebank Gautrain station is a three-minute walk away, O.R. Tambo International Airport a thirty-five-minute drive. Workshop17’s stunning sun-drenched co-working space – found on the first floor – means the hotel works equally well for those blending business with pleasure.

This is laidback luxury with the lightest touch. Bohemian sensibility with real sophistication. And a hotel that celebrates Rosebank, and everything that makes this eclectic corner of Johannesburg so special.

Working through the GRACE Foundation has enabled them to achieve more than ever before on Matetsi Private Game Reserve, with several major conservation milestones accomplished over the past year. The successful completion of our first-ever aerial survey across the full 136,000-acre (55,000-hectare) Matetsi Private Game Reserve is a truly remarkable achievement. This project, led by the GRACE Foundation, was the first of its kind in the whole Victoria Falls area and marked a major step forward in improving how they monitor wildlife populations, assess habitat conditions and inform conservation planning and decision-making. The survey confirmed thriving populations of elephant, buffalo, waterbuck (following our Waterbuck translocation project in 2022) and many other species. These findings will guide conservation planning for years to come.

“Thank you, as always, for being part of our journey. As we prepare to enter our second decade, we look forward to continuing to create the freedom of time and space for your clients, our guests, to experience the essence of what makes Matetsi Magic,” concluded Sara.

RAVE Coffee supports community and environmental projects https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/rave-coffee-supports-community-and-environmental-projects/ Sat, 04 Apr 2026 17:21:50 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110104 RAVE Coffee is celebrating four years as members of 1% for the Planet, while increasing its support for projects run by non-profit social enterprise, Raw Material. As the Cirencester-based coffee roastery has continued to develop its business year-on-year, its coffee purchases from Raw Material have steadily grown, and donations have expanded in turn, all meaning more funds have been made available for projects designed to empower growing communities, reduce poverty levels, and build environmental resilience.

Employing speciality coffee as a conduit for change, Raw Material works with coffee growing communities across Africa, South America and Asia. In states such as Timor-Leste, which is heavily reliant on diminishing oil sales and lacking basic infrastructure following 25 years of conflict, Raw Material is helping to implement renewable energy solutions, milling and export infrastructure, and educational facilities. While giving smaller-scale coffee producers access to higher income and reliable solar-powered energy, this then supports the growth of diversified and resilient local economies to benefit the wider population.

Now sourcing its coffee beans from cooperatives and smallholders around the globe, RAVE works in collaboration with 52 farms across 19 of the world’s finest growing regions, helping them to achieve both an exceptional quality product and a fair price for their produce.

Guided by an ethos of ‘great coffee, made simple’, RAVE is committed to fairer prices for coffee lovers too – cutting through the noise of in-crowds to deliver a better coffee experience for all.

To help coffee lovers discover more varieties, and to hear the story of its journey from bean to brew, the RAVE Coffee Club subscription delivers exclusive coffees and a jargon-busting apprenticeship to homes up and down the country. Roasted, posted and landing on doormats within 24 hours, this letterbox-friendly service offers complete flexibility, allowing subscribers to choose between Traditional or Discovery, or even the new Traditional + Discovery package, as well as selecting grind style and quantity – all sent with a new tuition piece each month, breaking the story of the bean down into bite-sized chunks.

For those who want to choose their own path, the full RAVE Coffee range includes a wide selection of Blends and single-origin beans, as well as everything from Coffee Pods and Cold Brew to Gifts and Brewing Equipment. All delivering the best beans at fairer prices, for everyone in the coffee sourcing chain, from farmer to consumer.

Kweene Trails explores a wild and spectacular corner of the Okavango https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/kweene-trails-explores-a-wild-and-spectacular-corner-of-the-okavango/ Wed, 01 Apr 2026 09:35:40 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=109968 Embark on an intimate exploration of one of the Okavango Delta’s most remote and pristine wilderness areas. A journey down the Kweene Trails links two uniquely positioned seasonal camps, each set within contrasting landscapes that reveal the remarkable diversity of this iconic ecosystem.

Situated in the southern section of the Kweene River System in an occasional swamp habitat, the area has an arid feel to it. As the floodplains are inundated with water less frequently than the seasonal swamp, the grass species that dominate the floodplains are much more palatable and thus productive, supporting large herds of grazers and the predators that follow.

The Kweene Trails provides a rare level of privacy, ensuring that every journey unfolds in complete seclusion within its own dedicated wilderness area, accompanied by its own devoted safari crew. Each safari is crafted to reflect the interests, pace, and comfort of every guest, lead by nature’s rhythm and the wilderness’s storytelling, with an emphasis on meaningful, personalised and expert guiding. Our Camps are intentionally simple yet exceptionally comfortable, with everything that you need and nothing that you don’t. Privacy, freedom, and authenticity shape every moment, allowing the landscape to lead and the experience to become the ultimate luxury.

All access into and out of Kweene is only by helicopter transfer from Maun or from any other camp within Northern Botswana.

Each Kweene Trail spans four nights, with two nights spent at each of our two seasonal camps to offer a rich and varied immersion into the Delta’s contrasting environments. When four or more guests travel together, the experience automatically becomes a fully exclusive-use safari expedition, allowing complete privacy and total flexibility. On the moving day between camps, the journey is conducted on foot (approximately 15 km) or by mokoro, or by game drive vehicle, or through a combination of these—guided by both guest preference and the insight of your guide.

The day is designed as a full wilderness experience, complete with a picnic lunch in a quiet corner of the bush. While you explore, your safari crew moves ahead to the next camp, ensuring everything is prepared for your arrival later that afternoon. This shared movement—not just through the landscape, but through the rhythm of the safari—deepens the sense of camaraderie between guests and staff, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere that becomes an essential part of the Kweene experience.

The Impact of Your Stay

With a contribution of $100/per per night, we provide guests with a meaningful contribution with every stay to directly support the long-term protection of the Okavango Delta and the well-being of the communities who call it home. Your journey makes a tangible difference in three key areas: Anti-poaching, improving educational resources at Habu Primary School and providing bursaries (currently 3 students) for promising students to attend private schools in Maun.

Treading Lightly

Sustainability sits at the heart of the Kweene experience. Our seasonal – Kweene operates from 1 April to 4 January, covering the Delta’s most rewarding wildlife and wilderness months. Fully solar-powered light footprint camps are designed to blend unobtrusively into the landscape.

Ensuring our presence has minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem, implementing mindful water use, a reverse osmosis filtration system, and routes that reduce environmental disturbance.

Hiddn in Addo, where wellness and conservation converge https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/hiddn-in-addo-where-wellness-and-conservation-converge/ Fri, 06 Mar 2026 10:47:00 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=109322 Just 72 km from Gqeberha, deep within a vast expanse of untouched wilderness in the heart of South Africa’s Addo Elephant National Park, a sanctuary is quietly emerging. Welcome to Mantis Hiddn in Addo, an ultra-luxury eco lodge cradled on a mountain peak where stillness is sacred, horizons seem endless and each detail whispers of discovery.

Opening in March 2026, Hiddn invites guests into a realm led by nature’s rhythm. Each journey is individually crafted, guided by a dedicated Experience Guide whose care begins weeks before arrival, continues throughout the stay and extends well after departure with curated follow-ups and thoughtful gifts. The result is less like an itinerary and more akin to a narrative unfolding – shaped by personal dreams and desires.

Wellness lies at the heart of the Mantis Hiddn in Addo philosophy. In collaboration with organic African skincare brands, guests are invited into deeply considered rituals that unite ancestral botanical wisdom with contemporary scientific understanding. Treatments are crafted from wild-harvested plants and rooted in time-honoured traditions to reflect a commitment to authenticity, sustainability and place.

A carefully curated menu of experiences supports the body’s natural rhythms, including lymphatic drainage, deep tissue massage, crystal healing, the Bliss Ritual to encourage oxytocin release and the Dream Sight Ritual designed to promote restorative sleep. These treatments are seamlessly complemented by guided yoga, breathwork, art therapy and immersive, nature-led practices.

Private bath rituals in traditional KolKol tubs and bespoke sleep journeys further enhance wellbeing, nurturing balance across the five dimensions of the Mantis Wellness Wheel: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and environmental. When these elements align, guests enter the Mantis state of BE-ing. A quiet, profound awakening that restores harmony to both body and soul.

Meticulously designed residences include ten standalone one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites, each with a private deck, plus two four-bedroom villas with infinity pools for larger groups. Every suite offers panoramic views across untouched valleys, blending contemporary comfort with natural textures and South African artisanal craftsmanship. Spaces are designed as sanctuaries of peace where guests can watch the dawn rise over misty ridges, soak in wood-fired baths under a canopy of stars or simply sit quietly as the wilderness breathes around them.

Dining at Hiddn is a sensory journey rooted in locality and storytelling. With no fixed menus, dishes are created in dialogue with guest preferences and daily wellness paths, shaped by the elements of earth, fire, wind or water. From chef-led foraging experiences and riverside picnics to private villa dining, every meal reflects a philosophy of connection, where food is both nourishment and narrative. Each bite tells a story of the land – flame-cooked meats echoing ancient traditions, hand-foraged herbs grounding guests in the present and botanical infusions carrying the essence of the mountain into every sip.

Guests can also experience reimagined boma gatherings, botanical mixology, bush cooking over open flames and curated tastings that celebrate the cultures of the Eastern Cape.

Sustainability underpins the design and operations. Built from locally sourced eco friendly materials, Hiddn’s low-carbon modular architecture breathes with the environment. Solar energy, water harvesting and recycling systems minimise impact, while rewilding projects restore once-disturbed landscapes. Around 75 members of nearby communities are engaged through training, employment and profit-sharing, embedding social impact at the heart of the project.

Conservation is woven directly into the guest journey. This is not safari as spectacle but immersion as transformation, where guests actively participate in rewilding walks, nocturnal ecology experiences and science-led conservation encounters.

Beyond wellness, daily activities include game drives in Addo Elephant National Park, expert-guided walking safaris, birding by ear or through photography hides, starlight photography and cultural storytelling that connects local heritage with the land. Nights may end around a glowing fire listening to ancestral constellations, mornings may begin barefoot in a riverbed tracing the rhythms of water and each moment is designed to invite awe, wonder and belonging.
At its essence, Hiddn is not a lodge but a return. A return to silence, to tranquillity, to self. Guests leave with more than memories – they carry with them a transformation, a sense of having been restored by wilderness and held by place.

Fully inclusive rates start from £2,000 per suite per night (based on two people sharing)

Samara Karoo Safari Villa A Refined Private Wilderness Retreat https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/samara-karoo-safari-villa-a-refined-private-wilderness-retreat/ Fri, 06 Mar 2026 10:37:53 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=109321 Set within 67,000 acres of restored wilderness in South Africa’s vast Great Karoo, family-owned five-star Samara Karoo Reserve has unveiled a beautifully reimagined version of its exclusive four-suite safari villa, The Manor.

Designed as a private-use retreat for up to eight guests, The Manor offers families and small groups an immersive, malaria-free safari experience in one of South Africa’s most dramatic and uncrowded landscapes.

Surrounded by sweeping plains, the ancient Sneeuberge Mountains and endless “big sky” horizons, The Manor provides a refined yet deeply connected wilderness escape.

Elevated Design, Seamless Connection to Nature

The thoughtful refurbishment enhances The Manor’s sense of understated luxury. Interiors now feature sumptuous textiles, hand-selected artworks and bespoke décor inspired by the Karoo’s rich artisanal heritage.

Two expansive living areas, intimate reading alcoves and multiple gathering spaces allow guests to shift effortlessly between shared moments and quiet retreat. The dining room, bar, breakfast room and spacious kitchen form a welcoming social hub for storytelling after a day on safari.

A new state-of-the-art gym with panoramic Karoo views adds a contemporary wellness element to the villa.

Outdoors, a 21-metre swimming pool blends into newly landscaped indigenous gardens designed to attract birds and pollinators. Raised viewing platforms overlook a nearby waterhole, offering remarkable wildlife sightings directly from the property.

Evenings centre around the newly built boma, where guests dine beneath vast starlit skies and gather around the fire, immersed in the sounds of the African bush.

Each stay is fully staffed with a dedicated guide and tracker, private chef and attentive hospitality team. A private safari vehicle ensures completely personalised game drives and tailored daily itineraries.

Immersive Family Safari Adventures

Beyond traditional game drives, Samara offers an experience rooted in conservation and connection. Guests can encounter the Big Five alongside rare and fascinating species, including aardvark, bat-eared fox, eland, springbok and the endangered Blue Crane. Guided walking safaris, night drives and conservation-focused experiences reveal the remarkable biodiversity of this unique semi-arid ecosystem.

The Samara Cubs Programme introduces younger guests to wildlife tracking, conservation activities and Karoo-inspired arts and crafts, creating meaningful engagement for children of all ages.

Educational fossil excursions in the surrounding Sneeuberge Mountains uncover prehistoric discoveries and ancient rock formations, while the Karoo’s crystal-clear night skies transform stargazing into a magical family ritual.

Effortless Access to the Heart of the Karoo

International travellers can fly into Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) before continuing by scenic road transfer or private charter. For added convenience, guests may also fly directly from Port Elizabeth to Samara’s private gravel airstrip with Air du Cap, reaching the reserve in approximately 45 minutes and landing in the heart of the wilderness.

Benguela Cove: A Contemporary Wine Estate on the Edge of Walker Bay https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/benguela-cove-a-contemporary-wine-estate-on-the-edge-of-walker-bay/ Fri, 27 Feb 2026 11:42:53 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=109113 On the edge of Walker Bay, just outside Hermanus, Benguela Cove sits where vineyards run down towards a wide saltwater lagoon, with mountains rising behind and the Atlantic never far away. The estate covers roughly 200 hectares within a landscape recognised for both its ecological importance and its quiet beauty, bordered by the Bot-Kleinmond estuarine system and set within the wider Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve.

Owned by Penny Streeter OBE, whose work extends between South Africa and the UK through properties including Leonardslee in Sussex, the estate reflects a long-term view of land and hospitality. The connection between the two places is quiet but present, grounded in a shared attention to stewardship and continuity.

At heart, Benguela Cove is a working wine estate. But it is also a place where hospitality, agriculture and conservation sit alongside one another in a way that feels deliberate rather than decorative. The estate’s guiding idea — hannuwa, a principle rooted in living in balance with the natural world — informs how the land is farmed and how visitors are invited to experience it.

The vineyards benefit from a maritime climate shaped by cool ocean breezes, producing wines that carry freshness and restraint. Everything is grown, produced and bottled on site, with a steady run of awards and critical recognition reflecting the estate’s standing within the Walker Bay region. Tastings range from informal flights to more detailed cellar experiences, while guided vineyard drives offer a closer look at the practical side of farming.

Environmental management is woven into daily operations. Benguela Cove is recognised as a WWF Conservation Champion and employs a range of techniques — from biological pest control to careful water management — aimed at reducing impact while supporting biodiversity. Partnerships with conservation organisations and ongoing monitoring of plant and bird life reflect an understanding of the estate as part of a wider ecosystem rather than a self-contained destination.

Accommodation comes in the form of private villas set across the estate, each designed as a fully independent home rather than a traditional guest room. This approach suits longer stays and multigenerational travel, offering space and privacy while remaining connected to the wider estate — whether through walks along vineyard trails, time on the lagoon or visits to the tasting room.

Food plays a steady, considered role. Several dining venues offer different settings, from relaxed meals to more formal experiences overlooking the water, with menus built around seasonal ingredients and local sourcing. Estate olive oil and wines feature throughout, reinforcing a sense of continuity between land and table.

The pace of life here shifts with the seasons. Harvest, typically running through late summer, brings a sense of movement across the vineyards and cellar, while quieter months allow the landscape to settle into its slower rhythms. Throughout the year, walking trails, lagoon access and outdoor activities offer ways to experience the surroundings without needing to venture far.

Beyond the estate, Hermanus provides context — known internationally for whale watching during the winter migration, as well as for its coastal paths, nature reserves and growing reputation as a food destination. Nearby wine valleys and beaches add further layers to the wider Walker Bay experience.

The estate has also hosted major international gatherings, including the G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit — a reflection of its infrastructure and scale — yet it retains a sense of openness shaped by water, sky and working vineyards.

Taken simply, Benguela Cove is defined less by any single feature than by its setting. It is a place where wine, landscape and daily life sit close together, shaped by the particular character of this stretch of coast.

• Environment in mind – the WF-1000XM6 is allocated approximately 25% circular material in the plastics used for the product, contributing to the reduction of virgin fossil-based plastic.
• WH-1000XM6 new colour – new Sand Pink colour added to the popular WH-1000XM6 range of noise-cancelling overhead headphones

Sony is today introducing the next generation of its critically acclaimed 1000X series with the WF-1000XM6, truly wireless noise-cancelling earbuds.

Building on the legacy of the 1000X series, the WF-1000XM6 achieves outstanding sound quality with the best noise-cancelling precision, enhanced call quality and connectivity compared to the WF-1000XM5 predecessor model, as well as an ergonomic design which has been optimised for a comfortable fit.

In addition, Sony is also introducing a Sand Pink version of its much-loved WH-1000XM6 overhead wireless noise-cancelling headphones.

The best noise-cancelling

The WF-1000XM6 deliver the world’s best noise-cancelling performance with a 25% further reduction in noise compared to the predecessor model, the WF-1000XM5. Most notably, the WF-1000XM6 elevates performance in the mid-to-high frequency range. Mid-to-high frequency noise is common in everyday environments, and the WF-1000XM6 delivers remarkable quietness, even in challenging situations such as travelling in vehicles or spending time in cafés.

The WF-1000XM6 features the advanced HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e, enabling precise control of multiple microphones for optimal performance. With four microphones, an upgrade from three in the previous model, noise cancellation is now even more powerful.

Sony’s advanced Integrated Processor V2, found in the predecessor model as well as the WH-1000XM6 powers the earbuds and features an Adaptive Noise Cancelling Optimiser. This advanced technology analyses external noise and wearing conditions in real time more extensively than the previous model, ensuring optimal noise-cancelling performance at all times. Noise cancellation has also been further enhanced to better reduce sound that may leak in through gaps between the ear tips and the ear canal, adapting to each user’s unique ear shape and fit. With these real-time adjustments, you can enjoy an immersive listening experience, unaffected by your surroundings or how the earbuds are worn, no matter the situation.

Plus, the WF-1000XM6 comes with Sony’s unique Noise Isolation Earbud Tips, designed to balance comfort and top-level noise blocking. Available in four sizes, you’ll find a secure fit no matter your ear shape.

Premium sound experience

Driving the premium sound quality of the WF-1000XM6 are two powerful processors working in harmony to deliver exceptional clarity, detail, and precision. Enhanced DAC amplifier performance, powered by the QN3e processor, ensures every note is delivered with exceptional clarity. Plus, the Integrated Processor V2 supports 32-bit processing, compared to 24-bit on the previous model, delivering higher resolution and richer sound.

Alongside this, Sony’s newly developed driver unit brings a new dimension to sound quality in the WF-1000XM6. The diaphragm features a unique design, combining different materials for the dome and edge. The soft edge produces deep, immersive bass, while the lightweight, rigid dome delivers clear and extended high frequencies. From signal processing to sound output, every detail is handled with precision, minimising distortion and achieving highly accurate, high-resolution audio. Special notches in the edge further refine the sound, offering even clearer and smoother audio reproduction.

The WF-1000XM6 also features Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio compatibility, a 10 Band EQ customisable in the Sony | Sound Connect app, headtracking and Background Music Effect.

Sound tuned with industry-leading experts

Sony’s 1000X series is dedicated to unlocking the full potential of every song, no matter the genre. To achieve this, Sony worked closely with renowned studios, meticulously refining the sound quality to deliver the premium audio experience that creators envision. Sony sought advice and inspiration from a team of Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated engineers including Randy Merrill (Sterling Sound), who has worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Chris Gehringer (Sterling Sound), known for his work with Rihanna and Lady Gaga; Mike Piacentini (Battery Studios), who has mastered tracks for Bob Dylan; and Michael Romanowski(Coast Mastering), whose portfolio includes Alicia Keys and the iconic Star Wars soundtracks for Episodes 4, 5 and 6.

Listening to their feedback, the WF-1000XM6 has been designed to achieve the premium sound just as the artists intended – rich, detailed and true to its original spirit.

Sony’s best call quality

Equipped with two microphones and a bone conduction sensor on each side, the WF-1000XM6 uses an advanced AI beamforming noise reduction algorithm to capture your voice with precision. Even in noisy places or when surrounded by conversations, it intelligently isolates your speech, ensuring the person you’re speaking to always hears you clearly.

Ergonomic design optimised for a comfortable fit

The 1000X series has always aimed for a shape that fits the human ear perfectly, with an ergonomic design for a stable and comfortable fit. With the WF-1000XM6, Sony taken this fit even further by designing the earbud to follow the natural curves of a person’s inner ear, reducing discomfort and making them even more comfortable to wear.

The new model features a body that is approximately 11% slimmer than its predecessor, minimising interference with the ear’s complex contours and ensuring the earbuds are comfortable, even during extended use.

Additionally, the newly adopted ventilation structure increases airflow within the device, significantly reducing internal noises such as footsteps and chewing sounds. This allows you to enjoy content comfortably in a wide range of situations.

Distinct textures bring each colour to life. The Black model exudes quiet luxury with a smooth, refined touch and the Platinum Silver feels fresh and airy with added metal flakes and glass beads.

With improved materials and a refined design, the case opens more easily, even with one hand, and the earbuds are easier to pick up.

Enhanced features for a superior listening experience

The WF-1000XM6 includes all the useful features found on the predecessor model that make the earbuds ideal for everyday listening, such as scene-based listening with Auto Play and Adaptive Sound Control, Quick Access and voice assistance. Google Gemini brings a seamless, hands-free assistance while you are on-the-go. Listen to music, connect with friends, get notifications and more. Talking it out with Gemini Live, it brings natural, free-flowing conversation to brainstorm ideas, add a shopping list in Google Keep or schedule events in Google Calendar – all without ever reaching for their phone.

The connection is now even more reliable with advanced algorithms and enhanced antennas that are 1.5 times larger than the previous model.

The WF-1000XM6 are also ready for LE Audio, a next-generation Bluetooth® audio that enables ultra-low latency, making them ideal for gaming.

When it comes to battery life, there’s up to 8 hours of listening on a single charge and up to 24 hours with the charging case, so you can listen all day without worrying about running out of battery. Plus, Qi technology offers easy wireless charging.

Environment in mind

The WF-1000XM6 is allocated approximately 25% circular material in the plastics used for the product, contributing to the reduction of virgin fossil–based plastic. The packaging is also plastic-free.

WH-1000XM6 – now available in Sand Pink

People are choosing headphones not only for listening to music, but also as an accessory that will blend seamlessly with their outfits. This has inspired Sony to introduce a Sand Pink version of its much-loved WH-1000XM6 overhead wireless noise-cancelling headphones. The new Sand Pink tone is an elegant addition to the range alongside the current Black, Platinum Silver and Midnight Blue colour options.

Pricing and availability

The WF-1000XM6 in Black and Platinum Silver, as well as the WH-1000XM6 in Sand Pink will be available in South Africa from the 3rd of April 2026. The suggested retail price of the WF-1000XM6 is ZAR 7,999.00, and the WH-1000XM6 (Sand Pink) is ZAR 10,999.00.
