5 Stunning Destinations for a Private Luxury Family Villa Holiday https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/5-stunning-destinations-for-a-private-luxury-family-villa-holiday/ Mon, 27 Apr 2026 08:52:51 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110677 Travelling as a family often comes down to space and convenience. Hotels can start to feel restrictive after a few days, especially when different routines, ages, and energy levels come into play. A private villa offers a more flexible way to stay, but the destination still shapes the experience. The ideal setting should give you privacy without isolation, with beaches, restaurants, and everyday essentials within easy reach.

This guide focuses on destinations where villa living feels natural, with layouts and locations that make family travel smoother from the moment you arrive.

Enjoying the Space and Sunshine of a Florida Retreat

In Florida, particularly around Orlando, villa communities like Reunion Resort and Windsor Hills are designed with families in mind, and it shows. Homes typically include multiple bedrooms, open-plan kitchens, and private pools that quickly become part of the daily routine.

Supermarkets such as Publix on Vineland Road are only a short drive away, and you’ll likely find yourself stopping by more than once for essentials or an easy dinner option. If you’re travelling with younger children, having space to move around is just as important as being close to the theme parks.

For those planning a stay in an Orlando villa, it helps to choose a location within an easy drive of Walt Disney World, with routes along World Drive and Epcot Centre Drive quickly becoming familiar after a couple of days. Universal’s parks sit slightly further out along International Drive, where you’ll also find mini golf courses and relaxed entertainment options that fit easily into an afternoon. Back at the villa, evenings are often spent by the pool or gathered around the dining table for an easy meal. It’s a comfortable setup that suits families of all sizes.

Experience the Classic Style and Warmth of the French Riviera

Along the French Riviera, villas often sit just beyond the busiest areas, which works well for families. In places like Mougins or the hills above Antibes, you get more space without losing easy access to the coast. Cannes’ La Croisette is around 15 minutes away, depending on traffic, and it’s where you might head for beach days, walking past the Palais des Festivals or stopping along Rue d’Antibes for shops and bakeries.

Old Town Antibes is a regular stop, especially around the Marché Provençal on Cours Masséna. Stalls sell fruits, cheeses, and local produce, and you’ll often find yourself picking up ingredients for a simple lunch or dinner back at the villa.

The coastline around Cap d’Antibes has quieter walking paths, with access points leading to small beaches that tend to stay under the radar. Villas here often feature shaded terraces and pools, which are especially useful in the late afternoon as the heat begins to ease. Days tend to settle into a slower pace, with time split between short coastal walks and relaxed hours back at the villa.

Taking in the Fresh Sea Air of the Devon Coastline

Devon suits families who want a coastal holiday without leaving the UK. Areas like Salcombe, Bigbury-on-Sea, and Croyde are known for their sandy beaches and compact towns, where everything is within easy reach. In Salcombe, Fore Street leads down towards the harbour, and you’ll often see people crabbing along the quayside. Boats head out across the estuary, and the ferry to East Portlemouth runs regularly, which is a simple way to break up the day.

When it comes to luxury accommodation in Devon, expect spacious houses with sea views, often within walking distance of the coast path. Many properties are designed for group stays, with open-plan living areas, large terraces, and features like private pools, hot tubs, or games rooms that make it easy to spend time together without feeling crowded.

Some properties are close to Bigbury-on-Sea, where the causeway to Burgh Island becomes accessible at low tide. It’s worth timing this right, especially if you’re travelling with children who want something a little different from a standard beach visit. Over in Croyde, the beach draws surfers, but it’s also good for families on calmer days. Local shops in Braunton, just inland, cover groceries and essentials.

Exploring the High Peaks and Hidden Valleys of the Swiss Alps

In Switzerland, villa-style stays are less common than chalets, but the experience is similar, especially in places like Zermatt, Verbier, or Wengen. These are the kinds of properties where families can spread out across multiple floors, with living spaces designed for time spent together indoors. In Zermatt, Bahnhofstrasse runs through the centre, and you’ll pass ski shops, bakeries, and hotels as you walk towards the river.

The Matterhorn is visible from several points around town, including the path leading up towards the Sunnegga funicular. Higher up, areas like Blauherd open into wider views across the mountains, with walking routes that suit different ability levels. In summer, lakes like Leisee are popular with families, especially for their shallow swimming areas and picnic spots.

Wengen and Mürren offer quieter settings, both reached by train, with car-free streets and open views across the Lauterbrunnen Valley. The surroundings naturally draw people outdoors, whether for short walks through the village or longer days exploring the mountains.

Sampling the Slow Life and Local Flavours of Rural Tuscany

Tuscany suits families who want space, privacy, and easy access to small towns that still feel lived in. Villas are often set among olive groves or vineyards, particularly around Chianti or the Val d’Orcia. Towns like Greve in Chianti or Pienza are within driving distance, where you can go for markets, bakeries, and a relaxed wander.

In Greve, Piazza Matteotti serves as the main square, with shops and food stores lining the edges. San Gimignano draws visitors for its towers, but it’s still worth visiting early in the morning before the crowds build. Siena’s Piazza del Campo is another stop, especially if you’re travelling with older children who can handle longer days out.

Back at the villa, outdoor spaces are often used for most meals, with long tables set against wide countryside views. Local shops sell fresh ingredients, and you’ll likely find yourself cooking more than expected, keeping things simple with what’s available nearby.

Are you ready to find a holiday destination that offers the perfect mix of family space and high-end comfort?

Some places naturally suit villa stays, especially when travelling as a family. You notice it in how close everything feels, from local shops to beaches or town centres. Florida’s communities are built around that ease. The Riviera balances privacy with access to the coast.

Devon keeps things familiar, with plenty to do nearby. The Alps bring fresh air and open landscapes, while Tuscany offers quiet surroundings with small towns never too far away. It’s less about the villa itself and more about how the location shapes the way you spend your time.

Luxuria Lifestyle Reviews No. 131 in The Cotswolds https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/luxuria-lifestyle-reviews-no-131-in-the-cotswolds/ Sun, 26 Apr 2026 18:52:29 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110730 Tucked into the elegant streets of Cheltenham, No.131 feels less like a hotel and more like a perfectly curated lifestyle moment from the second you step through the door. Arrival is an experience in itself, think softly glowing candlelight, interiors layered with rich textures, and the most incredible signature fragrance lingering in the air. It instantly sets the tone: warm, stylish, and quietly indulgent.

The interiors are made even more inviting by the paint choices throughout the hotel, rich, cosy tones that add warmth and comfort to every space. It really enhances that “home away from home” feeling, making it somewhere you can properly relax and settle in.

The design throughout is striking but welcoming, and that feeling carries beautifully onto The Terrace, which is stunningly decorated for both dinner and breakfast. In warmer months, it becomes one of the most inviting spots in the hotel. Breakfast here with an iced latte in the sun is a simple luxury, while dinner feels relaxed yet elevated. On Sundays, they also serve a lovely Sunday lunch on the terrace, making it an ideal spot to settle in for a long, leisurely afternoon.

We were lucky enough to have sunshine during our stay, but even so, it’s easy to imagine that whatever the weather, you wouldn’t feel the need to leave the hotel; everything you could want for a great stay is right there.

Dining is a highlight of any stay at No.131, with an impressive line-up of venues to suit every mood. From the sleek, late-night energy of Bar Tokyo, inspired by Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife, to the refined flavours of YOKU, and the relaxed elegance of The Terrace, there’s plenty to explore without ever leaving the hotel. And for something a little more classic, Gin & Juice offers the perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap.

Our stay in the King Suite enhanced the experience even further. Spacious yet intimate, it strikes that perfect balance between comfort and luxury. The freestanding bath is a real showstopper, ideal for unwinding after a day exploring, while the lighting throughout adds a soft, atmospheric glow. The suite also features a luxurious master bedroom and a separate living space complete with a plush sofa bed, making it feel more like a private apartment than a hotel room.

No.131 also offers meeting room hire and even full house hire, transforming it into one of the most exciting event spaces in town. The Ultimate House Party concept makes it perfect for everything from lavish friends’ getaways and engagement celebrations to big family occasions; there’s truly no better place for a private event in Cheltenham.

Beyond the hotel, Cheltenham offers plenty to explore. During our visit, the charming big wheel just outside added a playful, almost festive feel to the town. A short stroll takes you to boutique-lined streets, independent cafés, shops, and cultural spots, making it ideal for a relaxed yet inspiring getaway. The ever-stylish Holland Cooper boutique, located on the outskirts of Cheltenham, is well worth a browse not just for the clothing, but for the candles and fragrances that echo the beautiful scent you’ll notice back at the hotel.

A final tip: it’s well worth booking direct. Guests who do can enjoy a 1pm late checkout, complimentary parking (usually £10 per day), and even a coffee to go on departure, a thoughtful touch that perfectly sums up the No.131 experience.

Effortlessly stylish, full of character, and with so many layers to discover, No.131 is the kind of place you check into for a night and immediately start planning your return.

With thanks to Visit Cheltenham.

Westin Hotels & Resorts proudly announces the opening of The Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve, a sophisticated wellness destination where the restorative power of nature meets thoughtful, rejuvenating hospitality. Nestled along the golden shores of Praia dos Salgados, the resort offers a serene retreat that embodies Westin’s commitment to personal well-being through its Six Pillars: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well, and Play Well. The property is managed by Highgate, a leading global real estate investment and hospitality management company with a strong presence in Portugal, leveraging deep market insight and extensive experience across key European markets.

“The Westin Salgados Beach Resort was designed as a sanctuary where wellbeing and elegance are naturally experienced,” says Eleonora Scorza, General Manager, The Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve. “We want each guest to reconnect with themselves and their surroundings in an environment of sensory comfort and meaningful experiences that reflect the tranquil beauty of the Algarve coast.”

Biophilic Design: Where Architecture Meets Nature

The resort’s architectural concept draws profound inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscape, with a design philosophy that blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Natural light floods the interiors through expansive windows, while locally sourced materials, including Portuguese limestone, sustainable woods, and artisanal ceramics, create an authentic sense of place.

The colour palette echoes the Algarve’s distinctive coastal environment—soft sand tones, serene blues reflecting the Atlantic, and subtle greens inspired by the neighbouring Salgados Lagoon’s vegetation. Public spaces feature living green walls and water elements that create a multisensory experience, with carefully positioned relaxation areas that frame spectacular ocean views.

Indigenous plants feature prominently throughout the landscaping, creating microclimates that support local biodiversity while providing guests with shaded retreats and fragrant garden paths designed for mindful walks.

Restorative Accommodations that Elevate Rest

The resort features 95 thoughtfully appointed rooms and suites alongside 60 private residences, all designed as restorative sanctuaries. Guests will enjoy Westin’s renowned signature amenities, including the iconic Heavenly® Bed with its patented pillow-top mattress, plush sheets, and down duvets that promote deeper, more restorative sleep.

Each accommodation includes spa-like bathrooms, rainfall showers, and refreshing amenities including White Tea Heavenly® Bath products and Sleep Well Lavender Balm to promote revitalising rest. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide abundant natural light and expansive views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the resort’s lush gardens, with private balconies or terraces that extend the living space outdoors.

In-room features like blackout curtains and custom soundscapes combine to create optimal sleeping conditions, while breathing exercises and sleep-enhancing tips from the Westin Sleep Well Menu guide guests toward their best night’s rest.

Holistic Wellbeing at Every Turn

The resort’s comprehensive wellness offerings embody Westin’s holistic approach to wellbeing:

Wellness Hub Algarve: This integrated well-being sanctuary features a vitality pool with targeted hydromassage zones designed to soothe travel-weary muscles, alongside a circuit of sauna, steam bath, ice fountain, and sensory showers that stimulate circulation and promote detoxification. The relaxation area provides a tranquil space for mindful reflection.

The property’s RunWESTIN™ programme features custom 3km and 5km beach running routes developed in partnership with Strava, led by the resort’s Run Concierge three mornings weekly. Beachfront yoga sessions at sunrise create powerful moments of connection between body, mind, and nature.

Recovery Innovations: The resort introduces the Algarve’s first Hyperice® Rapid Recovery Room, featuring the latest in percussive therapy, compression technology, and mindfulness tools to help guests recover from travel fatigue or workout sessions. Recovery protocols designed by wellness experts address specific needs, from jet lag to muscle tension.

Family Wellbeing: The Westin Family Kids Club caters to young guests aged 3-12 with nature-inspired activities focused on movement, creativity, and discovery. Programmes include guided nature walks exploring local ecosystems, mindfulness sessions adapted for children, and hands-on workshops using sustainable materials.

Nourishment with Purpose

The culinary philosophy at The Westin Salgados Beach Resort Algarve celebrates the healing power of food through five distinctive dining experiences:

In-Season: A dynamic buffet experience where seasonal, locally sourced ingredients take centre stage. The menu changes with the seasons, highlighting the freshest produce from regional farmers and fishermen, with dishes that emphasise nutritional balance and energy-sustaining ingredients.

Chiringuito Blue: This beachfront venue captures the essence of Mediterranean coastal dining with a menu rich in omega-3s, antioxidants, and heart-healthy ingredients, served against the backdrop of ocean waves. Signature dishes feature sustainably caught seafood and locally grown produce.

Potato Project: This casual, plant-forward concept celebrates the humble potato alongside other root vegetables in creative, nutrient-dense preparations that showcase the versatility of plant foods.

Serenity Bar: Beyond standard libations, this elegant space offers a thoughtful selection of functional beverages, including adaptogenic elixirs, fresh-pressed juices, and craft mocktails designed to enhance wellbeing.

SuperFoodsRx™ options appear throughout all menus, highlighting nutrient-rich ingredients known for their health benefits, while the Eat Well Menu for Kids ensures younger guests enjoy balanced, appealing meals.

Connecting with the Authentic Algarve

The resort serves as a gateway to meaningful engagement with the region’s natural wonders and cultural heritage. The adjacent Salgados Lagoon—one of Portugal’s most important wetland habitats—offers guests exceptional birdwatching opportunities, with over 220 species documented. The resort’s naturalist leads guided excursions that connect visitors with this delicate ecosystem.

Locally inspired programme elements include botanical workshops using indigenous herbs, Algarvian cooking classes focused on the region’s renowned Mediterranean diet, and artisan demonstrations featuring traditional Portuguese crafts. A partnership with local fishermen enables guests to participate in sustainable fishing experiences followed by beach cookouts prepared with the day’s catch.

Through the Westin Destination programme, guests can explore curated half-day and full-day itineraries that reveal the authentic Algarve beyond typical tourist routes, with experiences ranging from visiting family-owned olive groves to discovering hidden beaches accessible only by boat.

“We’ve designed each aspect of the resort experience to foster reconnection—with oneself, with loved ones, and with the extraordinary natural environment that surrounds us,” adds Scorza. “The Westin Salgados Beach Resort Algarve offers not just accommodation, but a transformative setting where guests can achieve a state of wellbeing that stays with them long after departure.”

Portugal: Marriott Hotels unveils two distinguished destinations https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/portugal-marriott-hotels-unveils-two-distinguished-destinations/ Sat, 25 Apr 2026 16:45:59 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110692 Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Conference Centre and Marriott Residences Salgados Resort introduce innovative design and reliable service excellence to the iconic coastal region.

Marriott Hotels announces the opening of two distinctive properties in the scenic Herdade dos Salgados region: Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Conference Centre and Marriott Residences Salgados Resort, Algarve. Set against the backdrop of Portugal’s southern coast, these accommodations blend contemporary design with authentic local character while upholding Marriott Hotels legacy of attentive hospitality.

The resorts represent a significant addition to Marriott International’s portfolio in Portugal, catering to travellers who value reliability, consistency, and opportunities for enriching experiences in one of Europe’s most captivating coastal destinations. The property is managed by Highgate, a leading global real estate investment and hospitality management company with a strong presence in Portugal, leveraging deep market insight and extensive experience across key European markets.

“The essence of hospitality lies in the details,” notes Pedro Neto, General Manager of Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Conference Centre. “Our approach centres on understanding what matters to each guest and creating moments that resonate well beyond their stay with us.”

Modern Design and Premium Accommodations

Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Conference Centre features 228 thoughtfully appointed guest rooms and suites designed with Marriott Hotels’ signature aesthetic that balances contemporary elegance with local influences. The interior design incorporates natural materials, soothing colour palettes inspired by the Algarve coastline, and subtle Portuguese design elements that create a sense of place while maintaining the modern, timeless quality that Marriott guests expect.

At the heart of the property is Marriott Hotels’ signature Greatroom – an innovative, open-concept space that transforms throughout the day to meet guests’ evolving needs. The Greatroom serves as a versatile hub for socialising, working, dining, and relaxing, featuring flexible seating arrangements, integrated technology, and thoughtful lighting design that creates distinct zones while maintaining a sense of openness and connection.

“The Greatroom concept reflects our understanding of how today’s travellers move through their day,” explains Neto. “It’s a space that adapts to their needs rather than asking them to adapt to fixed environments. Whether hosting an impromptu meeting, enjoying a cocktail, or simply taking in the surroundings, guests find the Greatroom responds intuitively to what they want.”

Resort Facilities: Opportunities for Enriching Experiences

The property offers four outdoor pools – two designed for adults and two for children – set within thoughtfully landscaped gardens that showcase native plantings. The culinary programme spans four distinct dining venues that invite guests to explore both local and global flavours:

• KAN.JO: A fine dining restaurant where creativity meets tradition, in a truly vibrant celebration of Asian cuisine. Inspired by the Japanese concept of emotion, the restaurant offers a dynamic dining experience, featuring bold flavours and refined technique. In a sophisticated and contemporary setting, each dish is an artistic expression, built on a “blank canvas” of fresh ingredients and daring combinations. KAN.JO is more than a meal; it’s a journey of taste, excellence, and discovery.

• In Season: A relaxed buffet restaurant where fresh flavours and the rhythm of nature come together for an unforgettable entertainment experience. Inspired by the beauty of each season, the menu celebrates the finest locally sourced ingredients and every dish tells a story of freshness, sustainability, and bold, vibrant tastes that awaken the senses.

• Amara: Amara by the pool is a dreamlike retreat offering a refined poolside dining experience. Inspired by the Venetian Ciccheti tradition, guests can enjoy small, flavorful plates made to share or savour alone, crafted with the finest seasonal ingredients. As the night falls, AMARA Terrazza transforms into an elegant Italian escape, inspired by the charm of the Italian Riviera, and the menu invites you to indulge in multiple small plates paired with an exceptional selection of Portuguese and signature wines in a true celebration of flavours, seasons and convivial dining.

• Aperitivo 18: With a carefully curated selection of speciality coffees, Mediterranean-inspired meals, artisanal pastries, Portuguese wine, craft beers and signature cocktails, this sophisticated Greatroom bar is the perfect space to gather, indulge and celebrate – any time of the day.

Beyond the resort grounds, guests have immediate access to enriching cultural and recreational experiences that showcase the authentic Algarve. The property is steps away from the iconic Praia dos Salgados beach and the ecologically significant Lagoa dos Salgados Nature Reserve, where guided birdwatching tours offer insights into the region’s biodiversity. The adjacent championship golf course provides both challenging play and stunning coastal views for golf enthusiasts of all levels.

“Our guests seek experiences that blend relaxation with discovery,” notes Neto. “Whether it’s learning about local winemaking traditions through curated tastings, exploring coastal pathways with our naturalist guides, or simply connecting with the rhythm of Portuguese coastal life, we’ve created pathways to authentic engagement with this remarkable region.”

State-of-the-Art Conference Centre

The property’s conference centre represents a significant advancement for business hospitality in the Algarve region, offering more than 9000 square metres of versatile meeting and event space. The facility includes:

• An auditorium with a capacity to seat 1596 people
• A main ballroom with capacity for up to 800 delegates in theatre-style seating, divisible into three separate spaces
• Six additional meeting rooms ranging from 50 to 150 square metres
• A dedicated business centre with administrative support services
• Outdoor event spaces, including terraces and gardens that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests for receptions

All meeting spaces feature state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, including integrated 4K projection systems, professional sound equipment, and high-density Wi-Fi capable of supporting up to 1,000 simultaneous connections.

“The conference facilities were designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s business events,” explains Neto. “From intimate strategy sessions to large-scale international conferences, our spaces adapt seamlessly while maintaining an atmosphere of understated elegance. The technology infrastructure ensures seamless presentations, hybrid meeting capabilities, and robust connectivity that business travellers expect from Marriott properties worldwide”.

Marriott Residences Salgados Resort Algarve: Comfort with Premium Service

Each residence features generous balconies, comfortable living areas, and well-appointed kitchens ideal for extended stays. The property includes ten outdoor pools, two distinctive restaurants, including the charming Goa Café, a welcoming bar, and a curated programme of seasonal activities.

The design aesthetic at the Residences balances contemporary comfort with thoughtful nods to Portuguese architectural traditions. Clean lines, natural materials, and a neutral palette create serene environments that serve as perfect canvases for guests to create their own experiences, while subtle design elements – including locally-sourced textiles and curated artwork – maintain a sense of authentic place.

“We’ve designed these residences to offer both autonomy and service,” says Joana Pinteus, General Manager of Marriott Residences Salgados Resort, Algarve. “We want each guest to feel they have found their place in the Algarve — a space to create meaningful and unforgettable memories, whether they’re here for business or leisure.”

Additional amenities include tennis courts, mini-golf, volleyball and football facilities, a kids club for children aged 3 to 12, and both indoor and outdoor fitness areas. The property also facilitates access to the beach, water sports, sailing excursions, and guided nature experiences at the neighbouring Lagoa dos Salgados.

Wellness Hub Salgados: Integration of Wellbeing

Shared between the properties, the Wellness Hub Salgados offers a comprehensive approach to wellbeing in a true haven of Wellness for body, mind and spirit. From locally sourced and inspired therapies to exquisite aromatherapy and recovery services, the Wellness Hub Salgados allows you to explore an amazing range of wellness options that target physical and mental wellbeing.

The facility includes a heated indoor pool with therapeutic water jets and chromotherapy, a jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room, contrast showers, a professional-grade LifeFitness gym, a recovery room powered by Hyperice, a golf recovery lounge with compression and percussion therapies, and a make-up studio for events. Treatment rooms provide spaces for personalised wellness programmes that blend traditional techniques with contemporary approaches.

“Our wellness philosophy acknowledges that meaningful experiences often begin with personal renewal,” notes Neto. “We’ve created environments where technology enhances rather than intrudes, allowing guests to connect with themselves and their surroundings in ways that feel both novel and necessary.”

Positioned between the Atlantic Ocean and the protected landscapes of the Salgados Lagoon, these new properties strengthen Marriott’s presence in Portugal while establishing a refined standard for both leisure and business hospitality in the Algarve. The developments reflect an understanding that contemporary travellers seek authentic connections to destinations while expecting thoughtful, anticipatory service that honours their individual preferences.

The Rise of Conscious Luxury at Bingham Riverhouse https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/the-rise-of-conscious-luxury-at-bingham-riverhouse/ Sat, 25 Apr 2026 07:58:24 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110512 As luxury continues to evolve beyond materiality toward meaning and experience, Bingham Riverhouse offers a quietly distinctive model – where wellbeing, creativity and community sit at the heart of the house rather than as additions to it.

At the centre of this approach is bhuti, the in-house ‘Soul Health’ concept founded by Sama Trinder, which has become an established part of the Riverhouse experience over recent years. For Spring 2026, a new season of immersive events continues this evolution, bringing together leading voices across creativity, embodiment and holistic health.

Set within the riverside setting of the house in Richmond, the programme reflects a wider shift toward more intentional ways of living—where connection and shared experience shape how luxury is understood and experienced today.

A Creative Exploration with Pip Broughton

Among the season’s highlights is a four-part immersive series led by creative mentor Pip Broughton. Focused on generative creativity, the programme explores how individuals can develop new ways of thinking, communicating and expressing ideas with clarity and confidence.

Across the series, participants are guided through themes including creative being, communication, ideation and storytelling, blending practical tools with reflective practice to support both personal and professional development.

Nourished: Rethinking Wellbeing Through Conversation

On Tuesday 12 May (6.30–7.30 pm), Nourished brings a salon-style evening of conversation to Bingham Riverhouse, exploring modern wellbeing through lived experience and multidisciplinary insight.

Hosted by embodiment coach Anthea Bell, the panel brings together actress and BBC presenter Gemma Oaten; screenwriter and author Rose Cartwright (3 Body Problem); facilitator and educator Jamie Clements; and sports nutritionist Renee McGregor, whose work includes supporting elite athletes such as Team GB.

Together, they offer a grounded and human exploration of resilience, healing and what it means to feel well in today’s world.

A Broader Rhythm of Wellbeing

Alongside the headline events, the wider programme includes smaller-scale restorative sessions throughout the season, from sound baths to embodied practices. These are designed as ongoing opportunities for members and guests to step into a slower, more reflective time within the house.

One such session includes the Oasis Sound Bath, part of the Riverhouse members’ programme.

A Continuation of an Established Philosophy

Rather than a new direction, the Spring 2026 programme reflects the continued evolution of bhuti’s ‘Soul Health’ philosophy – an integrated approach to wellbeing that considers emotional, physical and energetic balance.

Within Bingham Riverhouse, this sits naturally alongside a broader commitment to conscious hospitality, where sustainability, creativity and community inform a more considered expression of modern luxury.

Bed & bhuti Wellbeing Escape

Experience true relaxation and rejuvenation with our bhuti Stay Retreat, designed to restore balance and replenish your body, mind and soul. This immersive wellness experience invites you to unwind, reset and embrace deep healing.

The retreat stay includes a three-course dinner by our award-winning chef, Vanessa Marx, using locally and ethically sourced ingredients. Riverhouse breakfast, bhuti class offering movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and access to our new bhuti treatment space, including an infrared sauna and a 60-minute bhuti treatment each.

About Bingham Riverhouse

Overlooking the Thames at the gateway to Richmond, Bingham Riverhouse is an independent, B Corp-certified members’ house and boutique stay where heritage, design and conscious living converge. Once a private residence—and home to literary figures Katherine Bradley and Edith Cooper (Michael Field)—the house has long been a place of creativity and gathering.

Led by owner Sama Trinder, whose family acquired the property in 1984, it has evolved from a bohemian B&B into a purpose-driven luxury destination shaped by food, wellbeing and community. Today, it offers seasonal dining with an award-winning restaurant led by Vanessa Marx, riverside gardens and holistic wellness experiences, alongside a commitment to thoughtful, community-focused hospitality—delivering a modern expression of luxury that is intimate, independent and deeply connected to its setting.

About bhuti

bhuti is the in-house ‘Soul Health’ concept at Bingham Riverhouse, founded by Sama Trinder. It is a dedicated wellbeing offering centred on holistic practices, immersive experiences and deeper personal connection.

Rooted in a broadened definition of wellbeing, bhuti brings together classes, retreats, treatments and curated experiences designed to support emotional, physical and energetic balance. It reflects the wider ethos of the house, where creativity, restoration and conscious living sit naturally alongside hospitality and culture

The Maldives, Made Effortless: Less Fuss, More Holiday https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/the-maldives-made-effortless-less-fuss-more-holiday/ Tue, 21 Apr 2026 11:32:39 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110548 No seaplanes. No rigid schedules. No pressure to “transform”. Just a Maldives escape that feels easy — and genuinely enjoyable.

The Maldives has long been synonymous with beauty — a destination defined by its turquoise waters, overwater villas and sense of escape. Traditionally, that experience has often come with longer transfers, more regimented resort experiences and wellness programmes that ask a little more of you.

At CROSSROADS Maldives, that experience is evolving – it feels lighter, freer and far easier to slip into.

For a start, getting there is refreshingly straightforward. Located just 15 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, there are no seaplanes, no additional flights and no logistical juggling. You land, you arrive, and you are in the water before you have had time to overthink it.

And once you are there, the experience opens up.

Rather than being confined to a single island, CROSSROADS brings together multiple resorts and experiences in one destination. Spend the morning in the laid-back, design-led surroundings of SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton, then shift gears at Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, where things are livelier, more social and music-led. It is still unmistakably the Maldives — just with more choice.

At the heart of it all is The Marina @ CROSSROADS — a space that feels closer to a beachside village than a traditional resort offering. Restaurants, cafés, boutiques, live music and a sense of energy rarely found in the Maldives create a destination that feels both dynamic and flexible. You can lean into it, or step away from it — the point is, you decide.

That sense of ease continues with wellness, too.

At SAii Lagoon Maldives, the Peace of Mind offer is built around a softer, more intuitive idea of wellbeing — one that feels woven into the holiday rather than set apart from it. Instead of demanding schedules or goal-driven programmes, it encourages guests to unwind in ways that feel natural: a morning yoga session, time in the water, a creative activity, an unhurried lunch, or simply an afternoon with nothing planned at all. It is a thoughtful answer to travellers who want to feel better
while away, without turning rest into another assignment.

It is wellness without intensity. Or expectation. And that is increasingly what travellers are looking for: space to switch off, without being told how.

Across CROSSROADS Maldives, that same thinking shapes the entire stay. Whether travelling as a couple, with friends or as a family, the set-up allows everyone to do their own thing without losing the sense of being together. Music sessions or beach activities for children, while others opt for slower moments — a marine centre visit, a boat trip or simply a long, unhurried lunch.

The result is a Maldives escape that feels more flexible, more social and far less complicated than before.

Because sometimes, the best kind of holiday is the one that asks the least of you.

Luxuria Lifestyle reviews Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Kenya https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/luxuria-lifestyle-reviews-fairmont-mara-safari-club-kenya/ Mon, 20 Apr 2026 10:27:56 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110531 More than a mere safari – this is a refined rendezvous with the untamed African savannah.

Forget the dusty, rugged safari of old. At the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, luxury is refined, intimate, and profoundly connected to the landscape.

After miles of dust and bumpy roads, it felt like I had stumbled upon a hidden heritage retreat. One minute, I am in the wild and the next, I am standing on polished wood, surrounded by canvas and five-star comforts. My bags were barely on the floor when the sound of the river called me to sit and stay a while.

Carrying forward an era of intimate, exclusive invitations, the Fairmont Mara Safari Club is a cornerstone of Kenyan safari heritage. It is purposefully called a Club, not a lodge as a nod to its heritage as an offshoot of the storied Mount Kenya Safari Club, preserving the tradition of discreet, intimate experiences. The site carries a storied past; originally an old hunting camp, it was transformed into a pioneer for photographic safari retreats following the hunting ban in Kenya in 1977, evolving into the intimate, exclusive sanctuary it is today. Here, the golden age of exploration has not just been preserved; it has been perfected.

A Sanctuary Under Canvas

Leaving the clubhouse, I followed a winding path into a private, emerald world. Under the canopy of gnarled giant figs and ancient yellow-fever acacias, the air cooled instantly. Pale bark glowed against deep green Euclea trees, while the chatter of monkeys and the hidden songs of birds echoed through the soft rustle of leaves.

Nestled within this oasis, I found my hideaway. Unzipping the canvas, any lingering idea of ‘roughing it’ instantly evaporated. Inside, my tent was a masterful blend of classic safari elegance and authentic Maasai artistry. I loved the accents of vibrant Maasai red and the intricate beadwork that brought the space to life against the cool, dark wood of the four-poster bed with gossamer netting, handwoven rugs, and antique-style furniture. Yet, nothing matched the thrill of the outdoor shower; washing under the vast African sky, with the rhythmic rush of the river as my soundtrack.

The tented camp is a study in delightful British understatement; a place where the rustle of canvas walls reminds you of the wild, while the interior carries the soul of a luxurious estate. My favourite ritual was returning each evening to find hot water bottles tucked deep into the linens. Wrapped in vibrant Maasai fabric, they felt like a warm embrace against the crisp night air, adding that final, thoughtful layer of comfort.

The true luxury, however, lies in the acoustics. To unzip my door at dawn was to invite the Mara inside. Each of the 38 tents is suspended over the river’s edge, featuring a private wooden deck where I could sit wrapped in a plush robe, feeling the damp chill of the morning mist rise off the water to meet the warmth of my coffee. There is a profound, meditative quality to this canvas living; the soft, rhythmic sound of wind against the fabric and the chortle of the hippo pod created a cocoon of stillness. It is a rare kind of silence that feels increasingly precious in the modern world.

At the Fairmont, the ‘do not disturb’ sign is not for the staff – it’s for the curious monkey eyeing your morning coffee from the deck.

An Unhurried Rhythm: The Soul of the Mara

There is a specific kind of magic at Fairmont Mara Safari Club, where the raw spirit of the wild is met with a refined ease that feels deeply personal. Throughout my visit, I was struck by the intuitive hospitality of the team; they made the service feel entirely natural, ensuring my bespoke itinerary unfolded with the fluid grace of the Mara River itself. The day’s transitions, from the sunrise game drives to the dappled stillness of a bush breakfast, to an intimate garden lunch experience, were so seamless they felt like an unhurried rhythm. Then, as evening fell, the ritual of the sundowner became a moment of quiet magnetism, where chilled drinks and artful bites were served just as the sun set to the distant, guttural roar of a lion.

The Conservation Heartbeat: A Silent Encounter

A game drive is where every safari begins; it is the heartbeat of the adventure. While the safari is the entire journey, the game drive is that immersive moment of witnessing the wild from the comfort of a 4×4 open-sided vehicle. Led by an expert ranger, I was taken close enough to feel the presence of the animals without disturbing their ancient rhythms. The true luxury I discovered was the feeling of being a guest in a world that belongs entirely to the animals. Whether I was watching a family of elephants drift across the plains or waking to the mist rolling off the Mara River, the experience offered a profound stillness that the frenetic pace of my city life could never replicate.

While most experience the Mara through the safe, glass-framed window of a Land Cruiser, I was headed for something far more immersive. Stepping out of the vehicle and into the community-owned Ol Choro Conservancy, Rhino Sanctuary, the luxury of the club fell away, replaced by the profound privilege of a quiet walk. Here, I was not just observing; I was walking alongside dedicated rangers to meet the only two southern white rhinos in the Mara. Standing just metres away from these ancient giants, I felt the true weight of what it means to preserve the wild. It was a once-in-a-lifetime encounter that moved me beyond words – a moment where the refinement of my stay met the raw responsibility of a legacy.

This was not just an experience but a privilege. Rare, deeply personal and profoundly moving.

A Sanctuary of Stillness: Wellness and Quiet Discovery

The morning’s wild rush gave way to the afternoon’s invitation. Tucked away in a quaint wooden hut on the riverbank, I enjoyed wide windows overlooking the river; here, the cool breeze and my massage treatment were a moment of pure sensory immersion for me – grounding, restorative, and pure.

Beyond the spa, I found a different kind of rhythm in the guided nature and bird walks along the river’s edge, or during a fascinating visit to the bee apiary to learn about the Mara’s smallest, most vital workers. Even the stroll to the herb garden feels like a meditation, where the scent of earth and growing things replaces the dust of the plains.

The Heart of the Club: Architectural Sophistication

At the centre of the camp lies the main Clubhouse, a striking architectural anchor that seamlessly bridges the gap between traditional safari heritage and contemporary luxury. Far from a standard lobby, the space is a masterclass in open-plan design, where massive mahogany beams soar toward a vaulted ceiling. Walls of expansive glass ensure that even while indoors, you are never truly separated from the river and magnificent trees outside.

There is a cathedral-like scale here that mirrors the vastness of the plains. Within the Kirafu dining room, beautiful, exposed beams and light from expansive glass walls maintain a decidedly contemporary atmosphere. The lodge’s defining feature is undoubtedly the sweeping wooden deck, cantilevered directly over the oxbow of the Mara River. It is here that the modern and the wild truly collide, with the Kiboko Bar serving as the lodge’s vibrant focal point. This social hub draws you from the stately stone fireplace toward the edge of the river, where a cocktail in hand and the sounds of the bush create the ultimate Mara evening.

Safari Flavours: Bush Breakfasts to Boma Dinners

The safari day is bookended by two iconic, open-air rituals.

Bush breakfasts appear after dawn drives, with fresh pastries and Kenyan coffee mingling with the scent of fragrant wild grass, creating a high-society picnic in nature’s theatre.

Sundowners are a rite of passage for the seasoned traveller. As the sun begins its descent, changing from amber to violet, a pop-up bar appears on a scenic ridge.

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club treats the entire landscape as its dining room. For me, every meal was as evocative as the wild itself, especially at the riverfront, where I enjoyed dishes seasoned with fresh herbs from the garden and local flavours that were refined with culinary finesse.

My afternoon in the shamba was a total immersion. In the garden, I joined the Executive Chef to gather sun-warmed greens for a private riverside lunch for two. Under the shade of ancient trees, a young chef transformed our harvest into a vibrant stir-fry right before us. With the scent of earthy grass and the rush of the river around me, every bite felt rooted in the very soil of the Mara.

The Pulse of the Mara – Carried Home

Stewardship is the soul of the camp, where sound, sustainable efforts safeguard vital habitats and endangered species: most notably the Mara’s rhinos under vigilant, 24-hour care. Here, the wild is protected because visitors choose to travel in a way that ensures its survival. Every stay, drive, and walk fuels a living conservation economy where nature and people thrive side by side.

Knowing that my presence here supports this delicate balance makes the moment of departure feel less like an ending and more like a shared promise. The zipper pulls shut on the canvas one last time, and I realise the wild and the refined have become one. The distinction between my four-poster sanctuary and the wild stretch of the Mara River has simply evaporated. I did not come here to be insulated from the wild; I came to find where the two meet.

As the morning mist lifts and a hippo’s chortle echoes through the trees, I understand that the greatest luxury is not what has been built, but what has been preserved. I leave the Fairmont Mara Safari Club with more than just sightings—I leave with the pulse of the African bush firmly beating within me.

The New Luxury Is Oxygen: A High-Altitude Expedition https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/the-new-luxury-is-oxygen-a-high-altitude-expedition/ Sat, 18 Apr 2026 08:26:40 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110496 Luxury travel has long been defined by suites, service, and opulence. While such is still a mainstay in the industry, the luxury travel landscape is literally going to new heights. On Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas, a new kind of expedition is emerging. Where comfort is not about indulgence, but about sustaining presence in one of the most extreme environments on earth. Breathing in oxygen at nearly 7,000m, a chance for a quiet escape that not many can experience.

Led by elite athlete Karl Egloff, one of the fastest high-altitude climbers in history, and operated by True Summit Adventures, the journey is designed around a paradox. Pairing refined logistics, thoughtful pacing, and high-touch support to enable something far less curated. To push you into discomfort, uncertainty, and personal transformation.

The journey begins not on the mountain, but in Mendoza, where travellers stay at the refined Park Hyatt Mendoza, easing into the expedition with time to acclimate, meet the team, and prepare mentally and physically. From there, the Aconcagua Express with Karl Egloff experience (£14,885/person) – which follows a structured 360 Route progression across roughly two weeks – transitions from city elegance to the edge of the Andes, where logistics, gear checks, and permits mark the threshold between two worlds.

After leaving Mendoza, your team travels to the mountain’s approach zones and enters Aconcagua Provincial Park. From there, the ascent unfolds in stages: trekking into base camp at Plaza de Mulas, settling into a premium, well-supported high-altitude camp environment, and gradually moving through a series of acclimatisation rotations toward higher camps. Each phase is deliberately paced, with rest days, load carries, and climbs designed to adapt the body to thinning air while maintaining safety and cohesion.

This is not a simple story of summit-chasing. It is about what happens inside a small team of travellers when the external world strips down to its essentials. Over the course of the expedition, a handful of strangers – a mix of executives, creatives, and seasoned travellers -move through a shared arc that begins with preparation and confidence, and gradually dissolves into altitude, fatigue, and adaptation. While the collective goal is vertical ascent, the narrative shifts to one of relational and psychological shift. When faced with an uncomfortable challenge, each additional breath of rarefied air changes our outlook.

What emerges is a new kind of luxury travel story. One filled with shared meals overlooking a breathtaking landscape not seen by many, acclimatisation days which offer spaces for reflection and recalibration, and conversations inside tents while the wind presses against fabric walls.

This isn’t roughing it by any stretch of the imagination – as every detail is meticulously planned and no luxury is spared – but it is an escape from plush robes and butler service. A literally elevated experience tailored to the most discerning travellers, allowing them to be fully present rather than chasing the perfect photo.

Upon reaching the summit at nearly 7,000 meters, luxury breathes in a new meaning to the word. Surrounded by the silence above the world, each breath on top of Aconcagua brings clarity. An understanding that the rarest luxury is not what surrounds you, but what you are still capable of experiencing when nothing is left to take for granted.

Reaching the Pinnacle: Kigali’s New Ultra-Luxury Retreat https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/reaching-the-pinnacle-kigalis-new-ultra-luxury-retreat/ Fri, 17 Apr 2026 13:54:32 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110446 With the arrival of The Pinnacle Kigali, the capital city has found its most refined experience yet.

Rising above Rwanda’s capital, this new ultra-luxury destination is not merely a hotel; it is a declaration that East Africa has entered a new era of sophistication. Part boutique hotel, part private members’ club, and part holistic wellness sanctuary, this is luxury at its finest.

Set against the city’s undulating hills and its immaculate streets, The Pinnacle Kigali presents itself as a world within a world. The result is a seamless convergence of privacy, design, and cultural intention.

Passing through its grand entrance, where contemporary African art meets sculptural architecture, guests are drawn into a space that feels both expansive, deeply personal and intimate. Light floods through the vast atrium, softened by natural textures and warm timber tones that echo Rwanda’s landscapes. Creating an atmosphere that is at once elevated and effortlessly calm.

The suites, each a study in restrained opulence, are designed to feel like private residences rather than transient stays. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame Kigali’s green horizons, while interiors balance clean-lined modernity with artisanal craftsmanship. Bathrooms unfold like sanctuaries, with deep soaking tubs, rainfall showers, and locally inspired amenities that root the experience firmly in place.

Yet it is the club element that truly distinguishes The Pinnacle Kigali. Accessible only to members and hotel guests, this inner sanctum introduces a social rhythm to the property, one defined by discretion and connection. In a series of intimate lounges, private dining rooms, and terrace spaces that hum with quiet energy, the atmosphere remains deliberately unhurried.

Beyond the social element, the retreat’s wellness offering emerges as its spiritual core. In a region increasingly recognised for its natural beauty and restorative landscapes, The Pinnacle Kigali elevates the concept of wellbeing into something deeply immersive. Guests are guided through tailored wellness journeys that extend far beyond traditional treatments. From restorative therapies and advanced skincare to movement sessions and nutritional consultations, each program is curated with precision. The aim is not indulgence alone, but recalibration. From yoga, to Pilates, aqua aerobics, or a Padel session, followed by a nourishing breakfast and Rwanda Mountain Tea tasting, guests can indulge in three-hour spa rituals including a full body scrub, Pinnacle Signature Body Treatment, and Luxe Pedicure.

Culinary experiences at The Pinnacle Kigali mirror this philosophy of thoughtful refinement. Menus draw from Rwanda’s rich agricultural heritage, reinterpreted through a global lens. Seasonal ingredients are transformed into dishes that are both rooted and contemporary. Dining is central to the experience, with four restaurants serving Afro-Asian fusion, pan-European and Mediterranean-inspired menus alongside teppanyaki cuisine. Guests can sample vintages from an extensive wine cellar of more than 1,000 bottles, or end the evening in the Champagne and whiskey lounges created for private gatherings and conversation. Dining spaces range from elegant formal rooms to open-air terraces, each offering a distinct mood while maintaining a consistent standard of excellence.

In many ways, this new retreat signals a broader shift; here, luxury in Africa was once defined by safari lodges and remote escapes, it is now evolving toward urban sanctuaries that celebrate modern African identity. The Pinnacle Kigali does not attempt to replicate established global models; instead, it redefines them, offering a vision of luxury that is distinctly regional, yet undeniably world-class.

To stay here is to witness a city and a continent at a moment of ascent. Quietly, confidently, Kigali is reaching its pinnacle.

Hyde Johannesburg: Boho Meets Skyline https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/hyde-johannesburg-boho-meets-skyline/ Sat, 11 Apr 2026 13:05:05 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110335 Hyde arrived on the global hospitality scene in 2005 via the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, and it’s carried its free-spirited DNA to Miami, Dubai, Ibiza, London, and now, Johannesburg. Hyde’s first African property brings its signature blend of urban sophistication and bohemian earthiness to South Africa’s coolest, most creative neighbourhood.

Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank is housed within The Bank – a landmark building on Rosebank’s skyline – and from the moment you arrive, it’s clear this space is genuinely shaped by South African creative culture. Local artists and artisans define the aesthetic throughout; pieces feel collected over time, with meaning, humour, history and joy.

There’s ceramic work, beadwork, bold contemporary canvases – and enough sculptural detail to keep you looking longer than you planned.

The 131 rooms range from intimate king rooms to the 52-square-metre Headliner Suite, all designed around unhurried comfort. Blackout curtains, gorgeous linens, fast Wi-Fi, stocked mini-bars, in-room steamers – everything you need, nothing you don’t. The gym runs 24 hours a day, and offers three different fitness studios, including a strength studio, cardio studio and peaceful focus studio, where you can unwind with a calming yoga session while watching a stunning South African sunset.

Importantly, Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank holds Green Key certification, an internationally recognised eco-label verified across 90+ countries through independent audits and annual checks. Solar panels, a borehole supplying around 40% of the hotel’s water needs, heat recovery systems and LED lighting are all part of how the property operates. Sustainability here isn’t a badge; it’s a mindset. Built into how the building runs and how the team shows up every single day.

At ground level, Proud Mary sets the tone for eating and drinking at Hyde. With numerous awards to its name, including “Hotel Restaurant of the Year” in South Africa’s 2025 Luxe Awards, this is Rosebank’s go-to spot for boutique wines, small plates and heartier grills – all served in a mid-century modern setting that manages to feel both buzzy and relaxed. Proud CoWee fuels the mornings – serious about its brews, generous with its pastries.

Then there’s Nine Lives. Tucked between the fourth and fifth floors, Johannesburg’s first hidden inter-floor speakeasy delivers unforgettable Asian flavours, Seventies-inspired design and a stock of rare international spirits you won’t find anywhere else. Hyde’s beautiful indoor-outdoor flow is deliberate, the connection to the neighbourhood, genuine. The Rosebank Gautrain station is a three-minute walk away, O.R. Tambo International Airport a thirty-five-minute drive. Workshop17’s stunning sun-drenched co-working space – found on the first floor – means the hotel works equally well for those blending business with pleasure.

This is laidback luxury with the lightest touch. Bohemian sensibility with real sophistication. And a hotel that celebrates Rosebank, and everything that makes this eclectic corner of Johannesburg so special.

Crossraods The Maldives: Effortless, Less Fuss, More Holiday https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/crossraods-the-maldives-effortless-less-fuss-more-holiday/ Thu, 09 Apr 2026 20:27:59 +0000 https://www.luxurialifestyle.com/?p=110310 No seaplanes.

It is a thoughtful answer to travellers who want to feel better while away, without turning rest into another assignment.
